This is an excellent read with little ones! Mayzie the bird gets tired of sitting on her nest and takes off an a holiday, but Horton understands how important it is that the eggs stay warm. He is made fun of and has a host of issues, but whatever happened, he said, “I meant what I said and I said what I meant, an elephant’s faithful one hundred per cent!” I loved using this as a character study when mine were little.
